Kathy Pawlusiewicz, DDS

General and Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Pawlusiewicz joined Prospect Dental in 2003 as an associate dentist and rapidly advanced to a role of Clinic Director.  After taking over the practice, she has upgraded and modernized the clinic’s equipment and procedures, making it the state-of -the-art facility that it is today.  Dr. Pawlusiewicz excels in the contemporary dental procedures as related to general dentistry with special attention to cosmetic and restorative procedures such as implants, crowns and bridge.

Dr. Kathy graduated pre-dental studies at Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor degree in Biology, and completed Dental School at the University of Illinois with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).  She continues her post-graduate dental education in general and cosmetic dentistry, attending conferences organized by the most prestigious dental education organizations, such as The Dawson Institute in Florida. Dr. Kathy is a member of American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and staff member at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.

Dr. Pawlusiewicz sees patients with an array of general dental problems.  Veneers, Invisalign, implant restoration, crown and bridge, and teeth whitening are all utilized daily in treatment of patients, in addition to the regular services such as periodic check-ups, fillings and cleanings.

Dr. Pawlusiewicz, and the entire dental staff at Prospect Dental, utilizes only the best local dental laboratories.  Unlike many dentists who send their orders to labs in China in order to save on costs, Dr. Pawlusiewicz is adamant about using materials which are shown to be safe, effective and long-lasting.

Patrycja Sobus, DMD

General and Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Patrycja Sobus obtained her Bachelors of Science in Biological Science at Loyola University Chicago in 2015.  She has always been interested in design and architecture, with which she had high career hopes.  During summer and after-school, soon-to-be Dr. Sobus got a job as a dental assistant; that period in her life helped her discover a real passion and calling to be a dentist, allowing her to create beautiful smiles and help people in need.  She got confirmation of her choice after volunteering at the dental mission in Panama, helping unprivileged communities with basic dentistry needs.  Dr. Sobus continued her education at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where she received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.).  She has graduated top of her class with many honors, including Dr. Adalbert L. Vlazny Award, A.C.E. Student Scholars and the Dr. Stanley Tylman Award, as well as the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED) Student Award of Merit which recognize the highest level of clinical proficiency and greatest interest in esthetic dentistry.

Dr. Sobus was born in Poland but has spent more than half of her life in Chicago and is happy to call the Windy City her home.  She is fluent in the Polish and English language, and her new goal is to learn Spanish to help her travel.  In her free time, she likes to go out for fine dining, travel, take walks and spend time with her husband and four-leg best friend, Tofik.  She is happy to hear any recommendations for places to visit and eat in Chicago and around the world.

Angelika Golemo, DMD

General Dentistry

Dr. Angelika Golemo completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with honors from Dominican University in River Forest.  While obtaining her undergraduate degree, she worked as a dental assistant where she developed her true passion for dentistry and decided to pursue her education further in that field.  She then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Midwestern University.  Throughout her studies, she completed clinical rotations at Human Asian Services Family Center where she was able to expand her clinical expertise and provide care to immigrants and underserved communities.

Dr. Golemo believes that a beautiful and healthy smile is a huge confidence builder and can be life changing.  This is why she is committed to providing highest quality care for every patient based on their individual needs while building strong lasting relationships with her patients.  Dr. Golemo dedicates her time to continuing education to broaden her knowledge and services, and she is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental society, and Academy of General Dentistry.

Outside the office, Dr. Golemo enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s traveling, hiking, exercising, gardening or simply soaking up the sun on hot summer days.  She was born and raised in Poland and she loves visiting her family back in the motherland.

Nicole Sygieda, DDS

General and Cosmetic Dentistry

Her passion for dentistry began at a young age when she would shadow her grandmother at her dental practice. She studied Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University and stayed in Milwaukee for her doctorate at Marquette University School of Dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Nicole enjoys rollerblading by the Chicago lakefront and dancing! She is proficient in Polish and Spanish. Dr. Nicole is excited to share her knowledge on oral health and continue the family legacy.

Periodontics

Jane H. Kim, DDS, MS

Dr. Jane Kim works in Prospect Dental since 2007.  As a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Jane Kim limits her practice to surgical therapy including treatment of periodontal disease, gingival recession, cosmetic periodontal surgery, crown lengthening, dental extractions, and dental implant therapy.  As a specialist, she partners with her restorative colleagues to provide comprehensive dental care to her patients.  Dr. Kim firmly believes in a team approach to delivering individualized care and attention consistent with patient goals and desires.

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree at Northwestern University, Dr. Kim continued her education at the University of Illinois receiving a second Bachelor of Science degree in Dentistry and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.  Following her general dental training, she continued her education in a three-year residency program at the University of Illinois, specializing in the field of Periodontics.  In addition to her specialty training, Dr. Kim also earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Oral Sciences.  Today, she continues to serve as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois’ College of Dentistry.

Junghwan Kim, DDS

Endodontics

Dr. Kim is from Seoul, South Korea. His family moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 2007. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics from Creighton University. Later, he received a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Kim worked as a general dentist in private practices for 2 years prior to returning to UIC College of Dentistry to obtain a Specialty Certificate in Endodontics and a Masters in Oral Sciences. His research during residency involved the influence of anti-resorptive and anti-angiogenesis medication on the outcome of non-surgical root canal treatment. He was recognized as one of the top ten highest-scoring endodontic post-graduate resident presenters in oral research.

Dr. Kim is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Coolidge Endodontic Study Club, and the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Kim is board eligible and is currently pursuing board certification to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kim enjoys hiking, traveling, exploring culinary delights, and spending time with his wife and Scottish Fold cat “Bopon”. Providing him with restaurant recommendations is strongly encouraged!

Magda Kuczek

Dental hygiene

Magda Kuczek graduated Dental Hygiene School at Harper College in 2006.  Her interest in dental field began in 2000 when working in dental laboratories in Chicago and Arlington Heights, where she gained experience in dental laboratory procedures with the specialty in crown and bridge.  In 2001 she graduated from Triton College as a Dental Laboratory Technician and then continued her education in the field of dental hygiene.  As a dental hygienist she enjoys long lasting relationships she builds with her patients.  In her free time she loves to spend time with her husband Rafal and their three energetic and fun children: Karolina, Patrick and Victoria.

Izabela Majchrzak

Office Manager

Izabela Towalska works at Prospect Dental as an Office Manager.  She works in the practice since April 2007 and considers practice and its staff and patients as a family.  She received her education at University of Illinois and has a bachelor’s degree in Biology.  She has years of experience in medical field working as an Office Manager and Medical Coding Specialist. Asked about the favorite aspect of her job she says: “I really enjoy seeing the transformation made in patients smiles and knowing that I had a part in it.”  In her free time our Office Manager enjoys spending time with her family performing outdoor activities such as biking, running, canoing, and other outdoor sports.

Izabela Kozak

Dental Assistant

Izabela Kozak works at Prospect Dental since 2004 as a Dental Assistant.  She received her education at University in Krakow, Poland; and after that she moved to USA and graduated with Associate Degree in Science from Truman College in Chicago.  She enjoys working with people and feels great when her patients take better care of their teeth.  She says that interaction with patients and short lectures about proper brushing and flossing are the best part of her job.  In her free time, she enjoys long walks and yoga classes along with fishing trips with her husband and their daughter Paulinka. She is also a dog lover/trainer.

Marta Suminska

Dental Assistant

Marta Suminska works at prospect Dental since 2018 as a Dental Assistant.  She has completed university studies in Poland receiving a bachelor’s degree in banking, but she had never worked in that profession.  After moving to the US in 2007, she started a completely new career path – she took her first steps as an assistant working with a periodontist, later with a general dentist.  In her work, Marta likes contact with people and always tries to make patients feel as comfortable as possible in our office.  The most satisfying for her is seeing beautiful smile of a happy patient.

In her free time she reads books, watches movies and hugs her furry children: cats Czesiek and Lolek.  She loves traveling with her husband and visiting new places.
